I''m currently debating over which technology to prototype a website with and it''s a choice between PHP and Java Servlets. I know a bit of PHP and a little bit about servlets. I was just hoping I could get some comments as to which you all prefer and why. It won''t influence my vote either way, and I don''t want to start a language flame war. I''m just curious as to which is the more popular and why. Cheers

Yes, I think PHP will give you least headaches. Unless you''re making a very special kind of web site, (Java) servlets are more trouble than they''re worth.

PHP im my experience is a bit more straight forward and easy to pick up than servlets. However, if its a big project I''d much rather code it with servlets. I think java is just a nice language to write in because of the rich built-in api and OO nature of the language. In the end though its really just personal preference and the nature of the project.
