Typos :(

I''ve noticed that I tend to have a very high typo count in my messages, especially replacing some letter sequences such as: "be" with "eb", "ing" with "ign" "eo" with "oe", etc. Basically, it happens when one hand presses a letter on the left side, and the other hand presses a letter on the right side, and there might be a very small delay, so the wrogn letter goes in first. The only sollution to avoid typos are: 1. Type slower. (takes more time) 2. Use only one hand. (yeak) 3. Spell check first (works good with e-mails, but doesn''t work well with posts on various forums, ICQ messages, etc.) I was wondering, does anyone know a way to correct this nasty, typos problem? Look at the screen while you type. Technically I make typos often, except that as soon as I do, I press Backspace to delete it, then I keep typing. Do you watch the keyboard while you type instead?

Train yourself to know when you make a typo so you just hit backspace really fast. Thats what I do and i find that i get rid of most of my typos fast. Of course, there are the ones that i just dont care about. Like in this post. I''m just randomly using capitalization and other grammar and stuff. Oh well...

I usually sense it when one finger presses a button before another when, while the order should be the other way around. Then I automaticly backspace the whole word, and retry.

2. Use only one hand. (yeak)
I do that all the time, and still faster than most do with two. It's quite nice, I'm scratching my back while I'm typing this . For some odd reason I find it easier to think if I'm writing with only one hand, so I do it when coding as well.

How do you press shift, with only one hand? It is very difficult.
Hmm, I only need one finger to do that, usually the little one on the opposite side of the thumb. There is a shift key on each side of the key board, so it isn't that hard. Although, I only use the left shift for Q, W, E, A, S, Z and X.

EDIT:

I had to do that once, for 1 day or so, when I had an injured hand. And I really hated it.
Ah, you need to practice. Nothing beats being able to pick your nose while typing/coding .

Just take a typing class or something, they''ll teach you to type fast, and make sure that you look at the monitor, not the keyboard, while you do so. In fact, I looked at the keyboard so much in 7th grade (when I took a typing class), that the teacher ended up just putting a box over the keyboard, and made me do twice as much homework as was originally planned (and yes, this went up by powers of two throughout the class) whenever I attempted to take the box off.

I learned quickly after that.

I am far too lazzy to take a typing class.
However, it is a good idea to try typing looking at the monitor, instead of keyboard (I am doing it right now).
It still takes some looking at the keyboard a little, but only like 5%.
I am going to type an entire sentence without looking at the keyboard, or correct the typos:
"Ok, this sentence is created entirelt wirhiut looking ar rge kweviard, Hmm.. nor rhat food, I rtpe like yoda"
