Hi all, I have a .3ds animated file of a running body. Is there a program on the net that runs the animation and outputs a set of .3ds file that make up the keyframe of the animation? I need a mesh for each frame of the animation. for example: I have walk.3ds The program give me: walk01 walk02 walk03 .... walkNN Thank you for any suggestion. bye

Probably best is to do skeletal animation. I''m (also) very interrested in a good editor for this...

Poser 4 is the best IF you are making a human animation. I don't know of any for other kinds of animation programs.

Is this "Poser 4" freeware? Where can I find it then?

We didn''t implement the bones in our engine and I don''t even know if we will implement them(even Quake3 and UnrealTournament don''t use bones). So we need a program or a plug in for 3dMax to extract each mesh of the model one for each frame of the animation. We know that we can do it manually but it is an incredibly wasting of time so we need something that does it automaticly, that ''s all.
I hope that someone can help use.

no, Poser is not freeware. I don''t think it''s that expensive. I''ve even seen sites with it pirated. (if you''re into that) I personaly don''t use it because it''s pretty restricted to human models.

Here is a MaxScript (R3) that claims to do that. Go to Max Scripts Max R3. It's the 7th one called Snap3DS. Haven't tried it though. Good luck!

If someone finds something that does this, please let me know. This is actually a pretty big thorn in my side right now. I''m still debating a skeletal system, but I would rather use frames of animation. I''ll check that MAX Script.

Half-Life model use skeletal animation. There is a plugin for 3dsmax that export cstudio animation data to half-life data.

Wasn''t maya complete listing for $7,500 and maya unlimited for $16,000?
the student vers were still 800 and 1500 for them.
seems kinda spendy depending on the size of the project.

One word. Maya. Vewwy vewwy expensive. If I had an extra $18k that I just didn''t know what to do with I would probably buy it.

I''m assuming someone gave that script a try. If so, how does it work? I guess I could just write one myself if need be.
