I have just updated my website. Please click here to check it out, or type in http://yoale.tripod.com/.
The site has some programming tutorials, a little glossary of computer terms, screen shots from my 3-D engine in progress, and a sample game with full source code. Right now everything on the site is free to use too. I really would like your opinions, good and bad. I have a humongous passion to improve my skills as a webmaster and a programmer!
Thanks alot:D

My advice: use a better host than tripod!
I get like 5 popups on the index page alone!

Thanks alot! I'm glad you liked it MindFlayer, sweeeet!
Yeah, I know I have too many pop-ups. I'm currently trying to find a better web host. Does anyone have a good web host they recommend that is fairly inexpensive?
So, what did you think of the overall look and ease of use? Could you easily find the downloads, articles and screen shots? I sure hope so. Please keep the comments coming, I want everyone that visits my site to enjoy it!
Thanks again,

You asked for comments, so here it goes...
Positive side:
Most text is readable.
You gave out code (as far as I know, at least).
You offer some services for free.
Your website is easily navigated.
Negative side:
You used "the ugly frames"; try iframes or tables.
You used Microsoft Word's WordArt (or you seem to have used it).
Some text isn't read-able on the Professional Help section.
You used a back ground image (just a personal thing of mine...).
You used some colored text(don't get specific with me on that, please).
I don't expect you to address any of my comments, or take them in to consideration. I just felt the need to comment on someone's website. I hope some of my comments were useful at least.
Good day, and have fun working on your web site.
Edit: I also recommend you try Free Prohosting, they just put a banner atop every site (do not use any frames if you're going to use Free Prohosting though).
Edit: Correction: Free Prohosting puts banners atop and on the bottom of every site. They've lost my support now.

Edit 3: In response to you(I'm editing my post because I'm not interested in cluttering your post): Thank you for the comments on my art
And also thank you for taking my comments in to consideration. Once again, have fun making your website. By the way, you misspelled my name
(I don't care though)

I really appreciate your thoughts Noel Cower! Just so you know I care, I have taken your comments into consideration, and I will address them:
-I will look into using iframes and tables, and am currently working on a no frames version of my site.
-I am working on the Professional Help page still, so it may take a little while before it is completely working again.
-I am consdering replacing the background image with just black.
-As for the word art and colors, hmmm...I'll see what I can do
.
By the way Noel Cower, your art is fantastic. You have good talent, keep up the good work! Thanks also for recommending Free Prohosting. And I'm sorry I misspelled your name, I fixed it
Sincerely,
Joel Bruce, Founder of Yoale's Site

Well, hmmm....
I've changed some things on my website, I hope it's better for it
I got rid of the pop-ups (they really annoyed me
), but the banners that took their place don't look much better. Please bear with me, I'm trying to get a new host as soon as I can. Errr...the price we pay for free things
So, please keep the comments coming about my site and its content. I'm planning on adding some more tutorials and free downloadable games with full source code really soon, if all goes well
So please visit often.
Thanks alot!
Joel Bruce, Founder of Yoale's Site
P.S. Please let me know what kinds of games you'd like too see on my site.

Too cool! I can tell more people are visiting my site. I''ve had close to over 4000 visitors within just the last 15 days. I''d like to give a big THANK YOU!!!
I''ve updated the site and now you can view it with or without frames. I''ve changed the color schemes a little bit too. I hope this helps alot of people to view my site better.
Coming soon to my site, a wacky and crazy version of Tic-Tac-Toe. I''m pretty much done with the alpha version and am almost ready for beta testing. Right now the zipped file is around 7 MB and is so large because of the voice acting I did for it (keep in mind I''m a programmer, not an actor
). If anyone is interested, let me know, you need Visual Basic 6.0 or better to run it. I cannot put it on my site right now because the file is too big, but when I get it small enough I''ll put it under my downloads section.
Thanks again,
Joel Bruce, Founder of Yoale''s Site

This stuff may have been addressed already, but I didn't read everyone's post.
Pros:
Good content
Fairly easy to navigate
Text is readable
Cons:
Banners (try Brinkster, no ads/popups)
Frames (I can't bookmark individual pages)
Non-frames version isn't very usable
If you go for the free Brinkster account you will need to optimize the hell out of your images (there is a daily bandwidth limit). Also for the downloads it wouldn't hurt to have some mirrors (more Brinkster accounts, geocities, etc) for your files.
Tables is a likely solution to the frames problem. (I think Brinkster might let you run ASP on the free account, if that is the case you can use <!--#include file=""--> statements so you have the same menu on every page)
Hope this was helpful.

Well, thank you all for your comments. I''ll look into all of the suggestions.
I really never thought about having mirrors for my downloads, I''ll see what I can do
And you''re right about the pictures Iron Eye...I might scrap the screenshots page altogether until I can afford a host that won''t so excessively limit my bandwidth.
Thanks for visiting my site, and please come back often
I''m continually working on new content and design!
Sincerely,

The freebie Brinkster account provides 16.7 MB of bandwidth a day which is plenty for pics and a few files. Plus 30 MB of storage.

Thanks a bunch Iron Eye, I''m looking at Brinkster right now, very promissing. I''ll post again within the next few days to let everyone know if I get a new host. Also, I have begun validating my site against XHTML, and I am very excited! Also, today I just posted a free Tic-Tac-Toe for all you people to download and play. You do need Visual Basic to play it, sorry
I will try to make standalones of my VB demos soon.
Thanks!
Joel Bruce
Thanks!

Hello again. I have just updated my site, and it now has no advertisements (at least it shouldn't). All pop-ups and banners are gone! Yay! Thanks Iron Eye, Brinkster is a great web host!
Do any of you like Blizzard's Warcraft III? Well, I have some exciting news. I am making some maps for this game, and they should be available for downloading within the week. All comments are welcome, good and bad. I am still slaving away at Vivid War, the XML Parsing tools, and tons of other goodies, so please check my site often!
Sincerely,
Joel Bruce, Founder of Yoale's Site
P.S. Please be patieint for my no-frames website...it's quite an undertaking for me to do it well. Thanks!
