Anyone know of any cheap or free voice SDKs available apart from DPlay''s? Roger Wilco / Gamespy seem to have a solution, but I''m sure it costs an arm and a leg for indie developers.

Voice support needs mic input, speaker output and codec (on-the-fly rapid compression/decompression) support atop networking. And the codec stuff is a patent minefield, mind you; that''s why you won''t see many voice freebies out there (or at least not very performant ones). What''s wrong with DPlay?

Adding voice to your game seems like re-inventing the wheel. Why not just let your players use RogerWilco or Teamspeak if they want it? I do that with my friends all the time when we are playing Civ, or Red Alert or whatever over the internet.
