Darn summer...

Original Post
Hey, my laptop overheated once, so I set it between two boxes and put a bag of ice underneath it. It actually hasn''t had a problem since, except that you have to replace the ice daily when it''s hot out...

I've had no problems with overheating this summer, even though here in New Mexico it gets about +100 degrees or so...

It gets particularly hot in my room because of the air flow in the house.I have 5 large fans and a couple more small ones in my case... I positioned them so that air flows through really well, but its still not enough. I''d use an ice pack but the condensation will ruin the computer =P.
I seen a NEW AC thingy for 80 USD...
But it''s the price of the electricity that kills you...

I guess since you live in beautiful Cali where the temperatures aren''t to extreme its common not to have AC? Start cranking out some code at rentacoder.com and eventually you can have enough saved to install a central AC system.
But I need AC to program... catch 22 eh?
Time to purchase bags of ice like the cows recommended!
But seriously, use a larger/more efficient fan for your cpu. Another thing that others have done is place one fan at the rear facing outward to blow and another fan at the front to suck air in and have both working in tandem. Fans are generally cheap so a configuration like that should help a bit. Good luck!

Yea, like nervo said, get a larger fan. They push more air, and from what I''ve heard, they are quieter too. For now, I suppoes the big fan would be fine. I''m not having any problems with my computer overheating yet this summer. My CPU temp always hovers around 46 degrees c.
Get yourself one of these babies!!!
