It takes longer to type w/ instead of with because of the positioning of the / key.

It's done for the same reason people use "f*ck" and "u".

EDIT: That wasn't intended as a subliminal message.

I think I get it now. Everythings clears up.

My swedish keyboard layout isn''t the same as your. To get a / I must hold shift and press 7...

Who in their right mind actually TYPES w/? I WRITE w/ whenever I''m taking notes, because it''s a hell of a lot quicker to write than with. And it''s NOT the same reason as doing f*ck. That''s done for censoring

Probably becuase they are afraid that typing the word "with" may cause this:

How is "f*ck" any less offensive than "fuck"?

It just makes whoever types it look like a dipshit.

I''m not WITH you. I personally think that some anacronyms are useful, when they ARE anacronyms, but shortening words in ghey ways like w/ just seems plain stupid.

Then again, maybe it''s cause I can actually type fast

Using ''w/'' saves a fraction of a second for the typer, and wastes a fraction of a second for each reader.

w/ doesn''t even save time, I''m more likely to miss the "/" key than screw up on "ith".
As nobodynews pointed out, w/ and w/o are very good for note-taking and I use them all the time there.

f*ck, sh*t, and other stuff were originally done for places where those words were censored out (after all, **** could mean lots of things). But people who use those in places where there is no censoring are just dumb.

Sometimes using f*ck and sh*t instead of fuck and shit can actually add to the meaning of what your trying to say. When used in the correct circumstances I''ve found that putting the * in can be even more powerful than leaving it out, although if you do it at the wrong time......

And writing "ghey" is far more fucked up and GAY than anything else.

I think RamboBones accidently hit the ''H'' key and didn''t bother changing it. It is gay to bother actually, and even more gay to point it out in big pink letters.

Clever point.

Btw, were I correct when I assumed that the american keyboard has a ''/'' key?
