What do you think about website optimism. Ok, this might sound stupid but... When I was little (say 13) I tought web position on search engines depends on how much a site is viewed and its contents. I didn''t know it only depends on it''s contents and search engines have no way of knowing how much a site is viewed. Well, that is until I installed the ever-so-popular Google Toolbar. Now, I''m confused. The GT has a "PageRank" feature... How does that work? Note that I''m still 13... Littelary...

What?! I waited for a whole 10min and no one replied?! This forum is dying!

Jk...

Anyways, here is another weird Google Toolbar thing:

The page that I am currently on, the "Reply" page, where you type in the reply, is rated as a 2/10. My website wiseelben.com is also rated as a 2/10. How can a "Reply" page be higher than my site?

I mean, the Reply page is generated by ASP right? So this page that I''m typing on is http://gamedev.net/community/forums/post.asp?method=reply&topic_id=170063

How can it be higher than a HTML page? Confused...

Google Technology: PageRank Explained
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other

Google also rates your page higher if you have many links pointing at you.
A few years ago, if you were searching for "dumb motherfucker" on google, and hit "I''m feeling lucky", you arrived on GW Bush web page :D
And on their web page, it was something like: "If you came here via innapropriate keywords froma search engine, please know that we didn''t use those words on this site, blah blah". So, I hit the "view cached" button, and it said that the actual keywords were not found on the website, but there are many links with those keywords that point there.
