I want to start programming. I know absolutly nothing about how to program. Could someone tell me what program I should use to write code and where I could to find some info to get started? Thanks.

Well, if you''ve already had a lot of experience w/ computers (doesn''t neccesarily have to be programming), I''d say jump in and learn C. However, it can be sort of overwhelming at first (unless you begin by reading ''C for dummies''... there is no way you *couldn''t* learn it w/ that book) so you might want to try starting off with visual basic. There should be a lot of information on programming w/ VB here on this very site. As far as compilers (the things you write the code in), for C i''d have to say DJGPP or a copy of MSVC++ 5.0 (which can be purchased on EBay for about $20). After you have the compiler, you''ll need a book (or a very good online resource). Since I know nothing about VB, I can''t really help you there, but there are tons of C resources online, so I would assume there are equally as many VB ones. As for books: If you wan''t to be sure to learn it, get ''c for dummies'', it moves slowly, but covers everything in detail (a *lot* of detail...). Phew... There really is so much to learn that I can''t even begin listing all the resources open to you..

Seek and ye shall find, or something like that.

my suggestion? learn QBASIC. it comes w/ dos, so you shouldn''t have a hard time picking up a copy. it will teach you the BASICs of programming, and how a computer program works. once you learn how to think like a programmer, you''ll be able to learn a little more complex language (and more flexible) like c or c++. that''s how i did it. and it''s easy, and there is a large online community...

Sometimes even chickens need to eat... Don't bang your head against a wall just to enjoy the good feeling when you stop.
Yesterday is the past, tomorrow is the future. Today is a gift, that is why we call it the present.
