What is the first thing/test/course I should do/take once I register? Its just that the different classes in different dates confuse me.

College Algebra?! No way! Ok, I don''t care about GameProgramming.org anymore. Why do you need to know College Algebra to take courses on stuff like basic C++?

Shouldn''t the entry test be used to see how much stuff you already know?

College algebra works basically as a foundation for what stuff you would actually need as a programmer, it shows that you are mature, or something like that. I looked at that math test with a friend, and we both hated the majority of it, because it had physics questions, calculus, differential equations, I am truely surprised that it didn''t have any Discrete Mathematics in the test, then I would have done a lot better(I took the discrete sequence, haven''t done differential or calc 3 for that matter). I would suggest learning game programming someplace else.

That is all the info I need, thank you.

It seems like GP.Org is some University Wannabe to me. Well, they look professional, but they try to make everything TOO real, like scheadules and stuff.

Is it any good at all? I have heard a lot about it, but am afraid it is some kind of sham that tricks you into blowing off a lot of your money in hidden fees. I keep hearing about free tutorials,. and want to know if they are good.

Its free, since you don''t have to put in your credit card info. But you need to pass College Algebra to enter, which is crap.

Village Specialton, I''m guessing your gonna start learning Algebra I (Honor''s math) or Pre Algebra (reg) this year right?

I''m starting Gemoetry (Honors) in 9th.

Ahem, hate to sound like a prick guys, but college algebra is simple. If you can''t even handle that then maybe you should reconsider your choice of vocation?

Yea, mabey for you. Not for a 9th grader like me, who''s farthest study in math is Algebra I.

The maths stuff is easy, but the essay is the stupidest thing I''ve ever seen (& it''s 50% of the entrance exam):

"Topic: If you could be a thing, an animal, an object, a character or anything in your favorite game you played, what would it be and why? Explain."

I''m Started pre-algebra this year. But I can just buy a few books. I''m good at math, so that should help me get into honors. I forgot how the system goes in my school.

For my district, you just tell the school you want to be in Honors math, and they''ll ask your guardian to write a letter. And your in. It''s simple.

Hey!
I was wondering if any of you who downloaded the exams for GameProgramming.org can email me them. (fmiddler@netscape.net)
It would be greatly appreciated.

That''s rather retarded. I''m in Algebra II this year(8th grade), and I''m doing geometry next year, assuming I don''t try to take it over the summer. But the way my school does it it you take a test, and if you do well enough, you go into a higher-level math, and then you need to get an A or B average in that math to continue going up.

Thats how our school works...BUT a parent can over ride the teachers decision. They can only override up to 6th grade then the teacher has control from 7th +...HYeres what i''ve done so far (or will be doing)
6thre-Algebra
7th:Honors Algebra
8th:Geometry...(hopefully)
I exist.

My school amkes you qualify. If you fail the test in 5th grade, you probaly are doomed to advance in my school. I want to try and get in honors. I hate my school system.

I had to take IQ test to get into my school. Everything we take here counts as Honors. Gameprogramming.org sucks. its a waste of time
