Total n00b question here. Please hold your fire. Can anyone recommend a good web-based email? I know free encrypted email is a thing of the past since the dot-bomb hit, but does anyone know any reputable free emails (encrypted or not) that doesn''t get spammed to hell a la Yahoo or Hotmail? Gracias.

I thought hushmail was free. That should more than satisfy your paranoia needs.

I''ve never gotten spam from my Hotmail account. Then again, whenever I needed to provide an email address for anything, I just handed out my brother''s. Moral: Be judicious with your address and all will be well, except for the person whose address you voluntaily whore out to internet vendors. Besides, if that person was smart he or she''d just forward the spam to one of his or her friends.

Well, I personally would make a server myself for webmail and such, then install, and get spamassasin running. And if I felt like encryption, perhaps gpg as well. It would work, but depending on your computer situation, it may work. I personally have a gdnmail account, and it works fairly well, although I gave my address to something that floods my inbox, as long as you don''t do that, you won''t get spammed.
