Oh teh nos!!!~ I just decided to do a search on Amazon for how much it costs and Standard Edition - 5 clients is $974.99 while 10 clients is $1,099.99. Plus that's the discounted price. The list price is bout $50-$100 more. Geez, that could buy me two decent computer systems capable of being servers and possibly two Linux distros, and I'll still have change

It''s for business servers. It''s actually a good way to reduce piracy if you really look at it. Only select businesses that can afford that will buy it and filter out the amount of people distributing it. If you''ve ever seen a supply/demand curve then you would probably see the curve shift in a way where the demand will still be met and the profit goals will still be reached. ^_-

Web Edition is cheaper than Standard.

Now, i''ve always wondered this: Does that mean that you can only have 5 people connected to your web server at one time? Because that seems uh.. really expensive. Or am I mistaking clients with something else?

I mean, if you have ANY web server, i''m sure you want the capability of more than 5 people connecting.

AFAIK, 5 clients means you can install the software on 5 computers legally. Maybe you have 5 servers, well if you buy a version of windows 2003 with 5 clients you are basically buying 5 licenses of the software.

Sure, but you can get it for free, legally. It''s only expensive if you want the manual, and tech support.

I wish. 5 Client licenses means you can have 5 simultaneous connections to the server.
