A Project manager, A Team Leader and a Programmer are driving through the Alps.
As they where driving down a steep winding road, the brakes failed. The car picked up more and more speed and they repeatedly careened of the gaurd rails , saving them from plunging down the side of the mountain, ripping great gashes down the side of the car. They were certain that they were all going to die.
As luck would have it there was a gravel pit at the side of the road and they plowed into it, bring the car to a sliding halt.
The three of them got out of the car and survayed the damage.
Despite alot of body damage (not to mention a dire need to change undergarments), the car was usable, albeit without brakes.
They all decided that something had to be done, after all it was getting late in the day and they wanted to get home.
The Project Manager says "I need to schedule a lunch so that the ''Brake Issue'' can be discussed and various options can be tabled and a time line can be proposed."
The Team Lead says "I''ll need to take a look at my available resources so that we can schedule a maintenance fix that addresses the newly discovered undocumented features of the brakes."
The Programmer says "I Think we should all get back in the car an continue downhill and see if it happens again."

Did you hear about the CS major that drowned in the shower? The shampoo bottle said "Lather, Rinse, Repeat"
A software engineer, chemical engineer, electrical engineer, and mechanical engineer were riding down the highway in a car when it started sputtering and finally rolled to a stop at the edge of the road, making terrible noises. They all got out and popped the hood. The mechanical engineer said "It''s a mechanical problem. We probably had a belt break, or the transmission is messed up." The electrical engineer said "Nah, it''s probably electrical. Let''s check the batteries and wires, and clean the spark plugs." The chemical engineer said "Maybe there''s a problem with the gasoline... or maybe we''re low on oil..." The software engineer said "What are we standing out here for? Shut it off, turn it back on, and let''s go already!"

This one is one of terminates qoutes, but it''s still funny!
"Come help me make my 3d game! I just picked up a copy of C++ in 21 days!"
-unknown newbie
3 programmers were in a bar. 1 had just been fired from a major corporate database job because he crashed the system.
The 2nd programmer''s wife left him because he spent to much time on the computer.
The 3rd was happily thinking about the profits that were racking up as this joke was told. His remake of Quake had been a great hit with the gamers and everyone was buying it!
The first programmer stormed out of the bar in a drunken rage and was hit by a car.
The 2nd programmer started to ramble all his words with source code. ''printf("Uhhhh....");'' He had a heart attack and died.
The 3rd programmer walked away sober and alive. Then the bartender said:
"What is this? A joke?"

Here''s a little something, which I have posted on my cubicle wall:
CARELESS CODE RECYCLING CAUSES KILLER KANGAS
Mutant Marsupials Take Up Arms Against Australian Air Force
The reuse of some object-oriented code has caused tactical
headaches for Australia''s armed forces. As virtual reality
simulators assume larger roles in helicopter combat training,
programmers have gone to great lengths to increase the
realism of their scenarios, including detailed landscapes and
in the case of the Northern Territory''s Operation Phoenix
herds of kangaroos (since disturbed animals might well give
away a helicopter''s position).
The head of the Defense Science & Technology Organization''s
Land Operations/Simulation division reportedly instructed
developers to model the local marsupials'' movements and
reactions to helicopters. Being efficient programmers, they
just re-appropriated some code originally used to model
infantry detachment reactions under the same stimuli, changed
the mapped icon from a soldier to a kangaroo, and increased
the figures'' speed of movement.
Eager to demonstrate their flying skills for some visiting
American pilots, the hotshot Aussies "buzzed" the virtual
kangaroos in low flight during a simulation. The kangaroos
scattered, as predicted, and the visiting Americans nodded
appreciatively... then did a double-take as the kangaroos
reappeared from behind a hill and launched a barrage of
Stinger missiles at the hapless helicopter. (Apparently the
programmers had forgotten to remove that part of the infantry
coding.)
The lesson?
Objects are defined with certain attributes, and any new
object defined in terms of an old one inherits all the
attributes. The embarrassed programmers had learned to be
careful when reusing object-oriented code, and the Yanks left
with a newfound respect for Australian wildlife.
Simulator supervisors report that pilots from that point
onward have strictly avoided kangaroos, just as they were meant to.
* From June 15, 1999 Defense Science and Technology
Organization Lecture Series, Melbourne, Australia, and staff reports

Here''s another tasty tidbit destroying the acoustic properties of my cloth cubicle wall. I give you:
TOP FIFTEEN THINGS YOU WILL HEAR A KLINGON PROGRAMMER SAY
15) Klingon multitasking systems do not support "time-sharing". When a Klingon program wants to run, it challenges the scheduler in hand-to-hand combat and owns the machine.
14) Perhaps it IS a good day to die! I say we ship it!
13) My program has just dumped Stova Core!
12) "Specifications are for the weak and timid!"
11) "This machine is a piece of GAGH! I need dual Pentium processors if I am to do battle with this code!"
10) "You cannot really appreciate Dilbert unless you''ve read it in the original Klingon."
9) "Indentation?! - I will show you how to indent when I indent your skull!"
8) "What is this talk of ''release''? Klingons do not make software ''releases''. Our software ''escapes'' leaving a bloody trail of designers and quality assurance people in it''s wake."
7) "Klingon function calls do not have ''parameters'' - they have
''arguments'' - and they ALWAYS WIN THEM."
6) "Debugging? Klingons do not debug. Our software does not coddle the weak."
5) "I have challenged the entire quality assurance team to a Bat-Leth contest. They will not concern us again."
4) "A TRUE Klingon Warrior does not comment his code!"
3) "By filing this bug report you have challenged the honor of my family. Prepare to die!"
2) "You question the worthiness of my code? I should kill you where you stand!"
1) "Our users will know fear and cower before our software! Ship it! Ship it and let them flee like the dogs they are!"
#7 is my personal favorite.

How many programmers does it take to change a lightbulb?
None, that''s a hardware problem.
How many SGI employees does it take to change a lightbulb?
One, but he''ll quit halfway through saying they got all they wanted from it.
How many Microsoft employees does it take to change a lightbulb?
None, they''ll just declare darkness a new standard.

I believe the reply to your software joke, Sean, is:
How many hardware engineers does it take to change a lightbulb?
None! You can fix anything with software.
By the way, for a real laugh, check out #8 on the actual Microsoft EULA for Visual J++. Yet another item posted on my cube wall.

Well, Well Marsup! So I have just started grad school! I shall be taking classes at night and will complete my Masters of Buisness Administration in about 3 years. What I fear the most is that I have to take a calculus class sometime.
Last night in class, I was the youngest one there. These were a bunch of old guys using all kinds of acronyms like CIO and CEO and CFO. Then they were using cliches like "Thinking outside the box". I tell you man, they lecture about all this garbage but they don''t tell you how to implement it. Anyway, call me if you''re ever in my neck of the woods.

RE: Grad School
Well it''s no wonder to me why bidnessess get run the way they do! What''s this about Thinking outside the box? To solve most problems, I frequently think outside dodecahedrons or buckminster-fullerenes. For some really profound thoughts, try thinking outside a sphere. Note that a sphere in it''s perfection, has infinite resolution!
Feel free to quote me should you do your dissertation on "Complex Extra-Geometrical Thinking - a modern bidness approach."

Do you teach me while I'm here?"
