Actually, oddly enough, this isn''t a crap post...
Arnold Schwarzenegger''s father, Gustav Schwarzenegger, was a Nazi.
You know, I find it amazing how the worst in people always comes out when politics are involved.
I suspect I need a frontal lobotomy.

hehe, Bush grandfather made business with Hitlar too...
And both are republicans... then republicans are nazis.
See? There you have your flamewar now.![]()
Hooray!
Yep. Any everyone thinks and acts exactly like their father. No child has ever rebelled. No child is allowed to think for themselves. In fact, political belief systems have been found to be genetic through the male of the species.
This crap is only relevant for people who are have to take a piss really bad and are looking for something to do it all over.

Schwarzenegger has also done a lot of work with/donated lots of money to the Simon Wiesenthal Center and what not ... I feel sorry for the guy, from what I can tell he seems ashamed of his father''s actions and is trying to atone for them.
Of course it could all be a publicity stunt, but he''s been doing it thanklessly for years, so I doubt it.

Just so''s to not confuse anyone, I''m not saying Arnold is a nazi; I''m more amazed and disgusted at how this crap comes out in droves when someone runs for a major office.
that news broke last year when he was just "thinking" about running for governor. Politics is an "end-sum" game, and really nasty business. i agree with you.(for a change, hehe)
I read somewhere that Arnold himself asked the Wiesenthal centre to investigate his father. I don''t really think he has anything to be ashamed of here.

I certainly wouldn''t hold the guy''s father against him. Who cares? He''s his own person.
However, you have a more valid reason to be pissed at him if you consider the way he''s manipulating the electoral system by running when he knows the only reason he''ll win is because of his popularity as a movie star.
The blame for that doesn''t really lie on him, though, it lies on the shmucks who vote for him because they thought he made a cool killer robot. I wonder how they''ll feel about his being governor when they realize he doesn''t have a damn clue what to do about anything politically.

Hmm, maybe nobody dies in a movie?
In regards Schwarzenegger''s father, he wasn''t regular German Army, but SA - a storm trooper as the yahoo link says. From the reports I''ve seen on the TV, however, he didn''t raise Arnold to be anti-semetic. At least that''s what one of his childhood chums says. Of course, there''s no telling whether the station that aired the report verified the connection.
Did anyone see the reports about the Taco Bell poll? That''s got to be the one of the worst commercial exploits of political tragedy ever. The gist is that Taco Bell assigned a menu item to either side of the issue, with the idea that people would "vote" on that issue by purchasing the corresponding menu item. The choices were Davis, Schwarzenegger and Other. Hmm, looks like their gimmick comes complete with an already framed debate. Of course, they stuck Davis with an unpopular food item and the initial results show him getting creamed. And supposedly, Taco Bell has added a new entry into their poll, Bustamante. You buy a chalupa to vote for him. I guess the management at Taco Bell heard enough wise cracks from their patrons to open up the field.
One statement that Schwarzenegger repeats that isn''t quite true is that he''s an independent. He says it in reference to his wealth to bolster his claim of being above politcy binding campaign contributions, but it doesn''t hold water literally. If Arnold is an independent, then he should have ran as one rather than as a Republican considering all the baggage that goes with it - Wilson, Schultz etc. At any rate, he''s already started gathering the big bucks. He raised $750k over the weekend.

Yes, the media and politics both have a tendancy to make me feel ashamed to be an american.
Don''t worry. These things don''t happen only in america.
Look politics in every nation through history and i''m sure you will find many similarities.
As for the media,it''s obvious that they''re closely attached to politics(I think interweaved is a better verb to use)
We are what we do to change what we are

Dude this isn''t limited to America. Just look at the British tabloids once in a while. Ugh...
On the other hand, the director of Arnold''s first movie once described his political views as "slightly to the right of Djenghis Khan".

IIRC, the SA weren''t really "storm troopers", merely a band of thugs.

With all due respect, that comment is meaningless (for reasons including but not limited to the fact that Ghengis Khan predated the French Parliament).
quote:I agree. American print journalism is usually better than British print journalism in my opinion. I still find it hard to believe people /actually/ buy the Daily Mail as a new source (as opposed to a tongue in cheek satire of some nonsense a racist coal mining uncle might spout).
