I was thinking of starting a game up sometime in the near future, and was trying desperately to think of an interesting gameplay. I think I finally came up with something. I was thinking maybe an rpg/act raiser type game play. You have a world map you can walk on, but all the dungeons are set up as levels similar to act raiser. The difference is you get different people on your team. I was thinking in order to incorporate the other people (instead of just haveing the player use whomever is stronger) I would have a switch button. Where you can switch people in the middle of dungeons. Everyone you get on your team has some important feature that lets you clear the level, or kill certain enemies. Like for instance, if there is a rock golem on the screen you would have to switch to the strong sword fighter in order to kill him, or if there was a magical elemental monster, you would have to switch to the mage. You gain levels by killing monsters and such. The one thing I am debating most on, is whether or not to have different sprites and different set up for towns and villages from both the world map and the dungeon. I didn''t know if this would be something to different or not, like it wouldn''t be from the same game, or shouldn''t be from the same game. Well anyway, let me know what you guys think of my game idea, I look forward to hearing from everyone.

Sad to say, but this sounds like any everyday RPG to me. Maybe I am ignorant, but the orginality of the idea isn''t very high. You need to find something to make it more unique, something that twists your idea into something not quite seen before.

Running around in dungeons and switching characters for whatever enemy that pops up is just like most RPGs, you of course try to use the guy that kills the enemy most efficiently. So it works to have in the game, but you need to get something that makes the game stick out. As it is now...I can''t say I see anything in it that makes it do so. On the other hand, 5-6 rows of info doesn''t cover an idea fully , so maybe I just missed that part?

Find something to make you game unique, then start working the idea out more.

It sounds similar to Lost Vikings. It could have a unique gameplay experience if you made the different characters you used really different so that their unique abilities would really shine when you switched.

It might be interesting if you had a layout of the dungeon before you entered maybe an old map or something showing diffrent entrance points. You then choose which of your characters will enter at which points. Then when you switch charcters during the dungeon. You will be in a diffrent place in dungeon. You''d have to use the characters copertivly to get past obstacle and open up parts of the dungeon. For instance your Fighter might be stuck at a castle gate. So you switch to your theif who starts at the top of castle wall and get him to the switch the opens the gate that was blocking your fighters path.

Actually, for battling it also sounds much like Final Fantasy X.
Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil...prayer,fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about thedouble-barrel shotgun. Eat leaden death, demon... -- Terry Pratchett

RPGd are everywhere! Can I surf this forum without seeing another RPG hit my face?! Actually, I like RPGs and find nothing wrong with them. I think there is not a game that can cover up that it isn`t a RPG.
