Could someone please tell me the answer to this question? My head is spinning because of the Graphics options eg, GL, DIRECTX, ALLEGRO etc. In order to create games like the pros which would you use? And, Does VC++ V6 have DIRECTX libraries built in to it? (Obviously V7or 8 i guess if any) and how do you acquire V9 libraries to merge into VC++ V6. Please note i haven''t bought VC++ V6 yet as i want to weigh up the issues such as this first. Please also note i am a newbie and only really have experience of Visual Basic. Thankyou for your time.

I like to use DIrectX. In order to make games, DirectX and OpenGL are the two big guys. Allegro really isn''t suited for making games. SDL is a good 2D library for learning, but I would stay clear of Allegro. OpenGL seems easier, but I am learning both to be safe.
