Well, good luck with writing a 3D Engine on Windows CE, but... do you really think there is any palmtop or anything like that which is fast enough to display 3D Graphics?
If you manage to do it anyway, you may be sure to have my respects!

The most important thing when working with GDI is to draw your pixels/whatever to a memory DC, and then copy that to the video (using BitBlt())... One way you can do it, is draw on a DIB, which can use your own memory and not a DC, which would be pretty fast, and then you can blit the bitmap to a memory DC, and then to the screen DC.. my 2 $hit$
I''m not exactly going to do this on wimpy palmtops.. I''ll be on something like a hitachi SH-4 powered machine with 640x480. My target fps is 10fps, so I think it''s feasble to at least try. I might try to use the GAPI from CE to do some direct screen memory access.
BTW, how do I implement double buffering while I''m at it?

Dude, you are taking on a freight train while being unable to lift a small honda.
Not that I don''t want you try... I''m sure you''ll learn alot!
If I''m not mistaken, there''s no Dx support for CE yet... or is it just no Dx7?
Getting a pointer to the video ram is a requirement, not a maybe.
Do those suckers use all that bank-switching crap? I bet they do... maybe not though... just writting a blitter could be a *royal* pain...

>> wouldnt opengl work on CE since opengl in non platfoirm specific??? <<
For OGL to work on a specific platform there has to be an OGL implementation on that perticular platform. Maybe CE doesn't have one (wouldn't surprise me)?

You have two drawing surfaces: the primary and the back. Whenever you do any drawing, you draw everything to the back surface, then you copy the back surface to the primary surface. And voíla, you've got double duffering.

does anyone know how to draw fast a poligon. I''m interested in the idea, creating a 3d-engine, but first of all you have to draw poligons, and I don''t think it''s just the win GDI, thats so slow...
could you post in here your algorithm to draw a face? perhaps we could find a faster one (perhaps much more fast, about 20fps would be enought, I think)
Other question: Is there a Direct X-like stuff for win CE?

Nope. Well, I suppose a 3rd party engine may exist...
if you want to learn how to create primative engines but a book. "Interactive Computer Graphics: A Top-down approach with OpenGL" by Edward Angel pub by Addison-Wesley ISBN 0-201-85571-2 will get you started.
