I saw a trailer for this new Quentin Terentino movie called "Kill Bill". Quite frankly, the movie looks hillarious. In that "we''re trying to be serious" way. You know, like how Jackie Chan''s "The Medallion" was hillarious near the end. Uma Thurman as a sword wielding super-assassin? WTF? Is this a huge joke perpetuated by Terentino? They keep saying it''s his 3rd (or is it 4th) movie. I know Pulp Fiction, what was/were the other/s? Wasn''t Resevoir Dogs one of them? And why is such a small time director getting so much attention? I mean, Pulp Fiction was okay. It wasn''t the great movie everyone said it was, but it was better than I thought it would be. Samuel L. Jackson''s story line was the best. I have to say though, after seeing the Kill Bill trailers, I don''t think it can be anything more than a bunch of the worst cliched, low-qualit-anime-inspired, mockery-of-samurai fight scenes all strung together.

Since you are obviously uneducated the way of films, I feel I must school you...

films Tarantino has worked on...

Natural Born Killers (wrote the story)
True Romance (wrote the story/script)
Reservoir Dogs (written and directed)
Pulp Fiction (written and directed)
Jackie Brown (written and directed)
Four Rooms (directed part of it)
From Dusk Till Dawn (screenplay and co-produced)

Is he a small time director? Not by any means.

If Kill Bill doesn''t look that great to you then don''t watch it. Those of us who has an appreciation for genre films will thoroughly enjoy it.

Okay, I take your word that he directed those movies. Now I am perplexed by the fact that the trailer said "The fourth film by Quentin Terentino".

"small time" was based on the idea that he had only done 3 previous movies. "small time" was not the words I meant, really, "flash in the pan" was more like it. Of course, you have pointed out the fact that he has done MORE movies, so he apparently isn''t a "flash in the pan".

I am not saying that I don''t appreciate Terentino. I liked Pulp Fiction, just not insanely much like everyone else did. It was enjoyable, just not the greatest movie of all time. However, Kill Bill looks completely rediculous.

There is also a movie called Killing Zoe that Terentino did something in (maybe directing?).

I''ve seen Pulp Fiction, Killing Zoe, and Jackie Brown and really liked all of them. However, if not for Terentino''s reputation in my mind, I would have probably laughed at the Kill Bill trailer also.

When''s it coming out anyway?

Proceeding on a brutal rampage is the obvious choice.

Killing Zoe? Maybe Kill Bill is a continuation of a series. Maybe THAT''S where the whole "fourth film" came from. What would be the other 2 "Kill X" movies?

By zer0wolf''s list I believe "fourth film" means "fourth film he has directed." I think that Kill Bill looks like a reat movie although I have to agree with capn_midnight that Uma Thurman doesn''t feel right as a super-assassin.

Do you think Uma will be part of an elite force to be reckoned with called Fox Force 5?

1) Killing Zoe was co-produced by Tarantino, thats all he did on that movie. If one wants to include ALL of his projects then one must also point out that he also co-produced Desperado AND directed an episode of E.R.

2) Invader X is correct. While Tarantino has played several parts in the production of obviously numerous films, Kill Bill will be the fourth (and fifth) films that he was written AND directed all by himself.

I sincerely hope not, as FF5 was intended to be truly lame. However, I wouldn''t mind a re-appearance of the mystical glowing briefcase, or another chance to laugh at the hilarity of ''the gimp''

It does look very weird, but judging from most of Tarantino''s previous work I have faith that this won''t suck.

Well, if it does, at least I got some swordfights for my money.

I just watched the trailer again. Does Terentino have an Uma Therman fetish? (i''ve heard of such things). At the very beginning is a scene of a fake jet flying over fake city. Is it supposed to look fake?

It''s supposed to come out early next month, and the website is practically devoid of any information. I would figure that production on the movie would be done already.

Apparently the movie has been split into two volumes. Originally, the movie would have been 3 hours long, and with longer-than-expected production, the movie was cut in half and the second part is supposed to come out sometime between december and april.

...very weird indeed.

Remember that Tarantino likes to play with weird visuals. Saw Natural Born Killers on TV yesterday and was amazed at the number of visual styles that he employed, as well as the variety of genres co-opted into the telling of this single story.

I like what I see of Kill Bill. I like to see actors branching out into roles that you would, at first glance, dismiss as impossible for them. For all you know, Uma might really pull it off. Formulaic, predictable casting is as boring as predictable plot.

As for having an Uma Thurman fetish, I wouldn''t know. I assume he enjoys working with her, deservedly as she''s a great actress. And she has the kind of unconventional good looks that Tarantino likes (alongside Juliette Lewis and Salma Hayek). Besides, you could do much worse for fetishes...

Uma Thurman...bleh

I think it would be funny if her nose gets cut off by a ninja. The preview keeps showing how ungodly huge her nose is. I don''t think her nose is really that big, but they seem to be deliberately making it look gigantic. And why would you bring attention to such a feature unless it was going to be cut off at some stage?

The visuals in Natural Born Killers is completely the work on Oliver Stone. Tarantino wrote the story for the movie, but Oliver Stone wrote the screen play and directed it. Its Stone''s baby.

Good point.

No denying Tarantino likes the unusual though. Whatever happened to his take on Tank Girl?

I happen to like Uma Thurman''s nose...

I''m also a big fan of Barbara Stanwyck, she had the nose thing going pretty strong too..maybe I have a nose fetish I''m not consciously aware of?
