Will it ever stop?

(*sigh*) Today my inbox was clogged with another massive load of bogus "Returned mail" mails. Why don''t all virus programmers spontaneously combust? Will evolution eventually rid us of these inferior creatures who live only to pester? Am I the only one who''d like to meet the sobig.f creator in person and do something painful to his testicles?

Not necessarily. It just means that your email is in the address book of someone who is infected. I aused to get tons of those. On my 100% Windows free non-Intel IRIX workstation. But it got a little better recently.
OTOH, I get tons of those "Re: your details", "Re: Approved" etc, 100kB large virus mails. Those are really annoying. Especially if you get 30 of them, that''s 3MB on a dialup connection. I think I''ll filter out any mail with "Please see the attached file for details." in the body.

The 100K ones you speak of are the ones I was getting. I got nailed by about 10 a day for a week straight and it totally fucked my hotmail account all up. I thought I might have had MSBlast, but I was safe there.

Filter this out: "ee the attached file for details". Some mails leave out the please (so the s in see is capital). Also, some messages leave out the dot at the end of the sentance.
I have that filter for three weeks now. Not a single message since.

You could filter them before downloading them from your mail server.
OP: No, it will never stop.

Good idea. Filter is now active. Let''s see how it works out.

That''s the plan - now everything containing the above mentioned sentence goes straight to /dev/null.

It also harvests from web cache, etc.
Anyway, yeah, on my BSD shell account (running on an Alpha, very nice proc set) I''ve been getting tons of Klez.H.

I got, for like a week, over 18/day, just enough to exceede my quota with 1MB, which caused any subsequent e-mails fail. And that was highly annoying, had to empty my Bulk folder every 2-3 hours. Not it almost stopped.
