I read on a Flipcode techfile that "dxguid.lib" should never be included in a project because it adds "about 8k" of GUID definitions to your program. Can anyone confirm/disprove this? Also he stated that 10.0f should never be used in MSVCPP because it equates to a typecast...?

Any of the DX components that require GUIDs to create/use will not run without dxguid.lib. This means pretty much everything except direct3d won''t run (link) without that lib.

With proper project settings, unused functions and variables are removed even from libraries that have been linked in. And 10.0f is evaluated to floating-point at compile time. The guy you''re referring to is apparently exceedingly full of crap.

How appropriate. You fight like a cow.
