I've got geo-mipmapping going at the moment and just started to think about geomorphing, the math is easy enough but what's the best way to work out the morph scale (distance to camera) per vertex? Suggestions appreciated, thanks. [edited by - Neoteric on September 7, 2003 9:27:58 AM]

Uh? Distance squared between two points(camera - ppatch center)??

Or do you mean the "world" scale?
Well, I don''t think there is universal method since every graphics card is different. I would suggest finding the lowest end system you want to run the game on and measure on that. Or make it so that the user can adjust the detail.

(corrent me if I'm wrong, I'm new at this and just running it through in my head)

I mean the first but I don't really want to be throwing more roots in if I can help it, the center is alread known using pythagoras to determine LOD, using just the center position for scaling would cause cracking so I would have to use all four corners and interpolate between which all seems a bit ugly if not all that complex.

Trent Polack's book makes the process sound more elegent.
