Looking at the html header files when making a request on the internet (for example, going to www.yahoo.com, certain html header info will appear). one of the data that is transfered here is the login and password. the login is simply the login name. however, the password is encrypted. does anybody know the encryption that is used?

If I know what you''re talking about (which is a little unclear), RFC 2069 is what you''re looking for.

Basic authentication doesn''t encrypt the username / password, it''s a base64 encoding.

If you want to learn a bit more about other authentication schemes, look here: http://frontier.userland.com/stories/storyReader$2159
