Hey guys, I was wondering... what was your first game ? My first game was something like breakout... you know... like DX-Ball, the only difference is: - It was made in Clipper 5.2; - It was for DOS (of course !); - It was in Text Mode; - Your objective was not let the ball pass by your paddle, it hasn''t nothing more. Ohh it has a Score table ! High technology you know He he, very simple hum ? Yeah but it was very funny to prgram it ! I loved. Why don''t you tell us what was your first game, I mean the REALLY first game ! I was just curious... Nepheus

My first game was a text game, kind of like an RPG. My first game with graphics was a less-than-perfect Tetris clone imaginitively called "Blocks" (something like that). That took way longer than it should have, but was kind of cool. I wonder if I still have all my old programs somewhere.

My first complete game was a maze in dos. It used mode 13 for the graphics and the arrow keys for control. I also made an editor for the maps that used the mouse.

A text based maze game. Ahhhh the joys of debugging the goto statement
My absolute first complete game ( for my standards ) was a text adventure game on a TRaSh-80.

My first game with graphics was a helicopter that flew over a one screen city and you had to shoot your enemies before they took control/blew up certain parts of the place. I won't say what computer it was but here's a hint:

You only had eight sprites but if you latched on the vertical interrupt, you could have 16. Oh yeah, and it flickered like hell!

My first game was "Galaxy Defender" written in a 5 day programming orgy between Christmas and New Years 1987. I submitted it to Compute! Magazine''s international programming contest and won honorable mention [4th]. I got $1,100 a few months later and my game appeared in the magazine in the September ''88 issue.

It was written for the Apple //e, completely in 6502 assembler.

Ahh... those were the good ''ol days

Oh- I meant to explain the game-- It was basically a clone of Space Invaders.. So that was my first real foray into game programming.

Well Now,

My first ever game was "The Eight Badges
of Destiny". It was a text based game with
some limited graphics. I programmed it Pascal
a few months ago. It could be to be bigger though
so I am continuing to work on it. My second
game I started on last tonight it''s called
Yipsilon Quest, it''s a experiment of my
animation and it''s supposed to be a side
scroller. Far from finished though. simple
graphics and RPG style game. When I become
a better programmer after I learn C when
I return to college in September I''ll think
about making the sequels.
