Um,
I''m sure this has been asked at some time before, but I''ve got an 8-bit oss, made and attached a 256-color palette, and want to blit it to the backbuffer. Thing is, my video mode/primarys/and backbuffer are all 24-bit. I kinda assumed this wouldn''t be a problem - the surface pixel values would just refer to the palette entries, which would then be the color that''d be blitted to the backbuffer. Sadly, I''m getting DDERR_UNSUPPORTED from blt. This tells me it''s not working (No way!). But what I want to know is does it fail because of lack of hardware support & unsupported by HEL, or I should have the a/same pal attached to the back/primary surface, or what? I could manually create another 24-bit oss, and convert each of the pal entries into the 24-bit colors for the new oss. But I was hoping of saving a bit of space by storing them as 8-bit, and that''d kinda defeat that purpose... I''m sure everyone has come upon/conquered this problem before? Great. I await your replies... oh, and thanks in advance!
