im planning to build my own watercooling system for my pc. i thin i got most things worked out, all the simple stuff such as cables, and i have access to the equipment to create my own heatsink. now i have this idea for a radiator, but its rather unconventional, so id like to hear the opinion of people who know a little about the subject, if you think if it will work or not.
the idea for my radiator is basicly a plexiglass cube with dimension 30x30x30cm or so. in this cube is placed a serie of nearly horizontal (arbitrary material) plates positioned above eachother. ofcource are all sloping in the other direction as those above and beneath them, so the water, which comes in from above, will slowly flow down over all the plates at low speed. the water will gather in a reservior below, in which the pump is also placed. air is blown in from the bottom, going past all the plates to come out at the top, which is open.
now i was wondering: is this an efficient radiator? ofcource it has a smaller surface area than most radiators, but its main source of cooling will be the vaporizing of water, which is as we all know a very good way to lose warmth. youll have to refill it, but it takes quite some time to vaporize for example 2 liters of water with a 100 watt pc (or something in that order of magnitude)
at least it will look very good, with all the little waterfalls going on
what are your thoughts?
