I keep getting this error message every time I try to compile a C++ program with gcc: cc: installation problem, cannot exec ''cc1plus'': No such file or directory Should I re-install? How would I do that? ( Someone else set up my compiler for me) Where are all the gcc source files located? (I am assuming that cc1plus is in there somewhere) BTW, I can compile C programs just fine, it is just C++ that this error comes up in. Thanks for the help in advance neo88

What OS are you running ?
Have you tried searching for cc1plus ?
Has your friend installed everything of gcc or only the C part ?

I am running Mandrake Linux 9.0. The C++ part of gcc is there, just not that one file (cc1plus). I searched for it using the standerd search commands, and nothing turned up. I imagine that cc1plus is some sort of linking library that gcc reads/writes to internally/eternally. Where is the gcc main directory located at... maybe that would help

i don''t know whether this works, but you could try "g++" instead of "gcc"

our new version has many new and good features. sadly, the good nes are not new and the new nes are not good oo

Then it would seem you do not have all of the C++ parts of GCC installed.

It's probably located in /usr/local/bin if you have it, but since it couldn't be found I'm guessing that it's not in there because linux always looks there. I don't know what 9.0 is like, but in 9.1 you can install software from the cd using one of the prog's that comes with it (it's in the control panel somewhere). Or, you could just download g++, but I think it's pretty big (9 mb or something).
