Hey I''m having some problems when I init D3D. If my display is in 32bits, D3D won''t start. When I change it to 16bits, everything runs fine. (app is running in windowed mode). What I don''t understand is when I give this app to a friend and he also changes his display to 16bits, the app won''t run either... Anyone can help? thx in advance

Maybe your video card doesn''t support 32 bit at that resolution?
What color depth is your desktop at? Try switching that around?

when in windowed mode the bitdepth should always be the same as the desktop bitdepth, you should check the current display mode and use the same bitdepth.
If you friend has installed DX and all it is strange that the app won''t work there... check the HRESULT that d3d gives you when things go wrong!

Use the debug D3D runtime, make sure it''s enabled and the output level is turned up, run your code in a debugger then look at the debug output window.

D3D will explain *why* it failed a particular call!
