My mother in law bought her daughter (my wife) a laptop. And I just wanted to know what you guys think about it. Well, it is a larger screen, with more memory, a more powerful processor(MHz myth or not, that is a G3), actually has 802.11G, and wireless is integrated. I would say the only thing the iBook has over it is the fact that it runs OS X, and that no HP to my knowledge can. Although battery life would probably also be better on the iBook. I would say your wife got a fairly nice machine.

HAH! I have XP Pro! BWAHAHAH!

Although I have 3 gig smaller HDD (37 gigs), 256ddr, and a P4 2.4 ghz.

And so on

The HP is very similar to mine, but mine is Pentium, and costed $1800 (my how quickly prices drop) I will tell you that HP seems to have a lot of problems (I know from experience), but that is no doubt a nice machine. I would take it over an Apple laptop any day (admittedly, I do like the Apple style though)

Sounds similar to what I''m getting. ''cept that my HD will be twice as big, and I''m having a gig of memory in it. And a second battery. Then again, I also pay a bit more.

A gig of RAM? Intense!

HP''s are notriously ... crappy - just to let you know, they won''t last as long as you''d like. HP is now in cahoots () with Compaq - two companies that make PC''s that seem good at first, but they make it with cheap parts (cheap mobo''s, onbaord video, passable sound, etc...).

But hey, you get what you pay for.

Although I must admit, my Compaq Evo (which I got for free, so no complaints there) was the more expensive of the Compaq laptops (more expensive parts), and I haven''t had a complaint yet about it.

The more expensive, the better - as far as laptops (and computers in general) go.

Peace.
