Deus Ex is great. Although its a bit annoying that you can''t aim well at the start. 
SOF is good too, although it''s not exactly all that original if you take out the dismemberment.

Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if I was an ant and she fell on me? Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.

Hm, so Deus Ex is a good buy? I''ve been debating whether to get it or not ... I''m not a first-person shooter fan at ALL, but I do like games that involve sneaking and adventure elements.

Deus Ex isn''t even out in England yet cos stupid Eidos want to wait till all the european languages are recorded. I want that game so bad....I played the demo and it looks like the best game i''ve seen for a long time. Very similar in gameplay to System Shock 2 which was possible the best game ever IMHO.
As for whether SOF is better (i take it you are talking about Soldier of Fortune? if not please excuse my stupidity)...I couldn''t disagree more. The whole game uses extreme violence as a gimmick to hide the fact that it''s a boring unoriginal deeply average FPS. The AI is absolutely horrendous. Everything that made Half-Life the best ever FPS (IMHO) has been completely ignored, and SOF looks to me like Quake2 (i.e. bloody rubbish - singleplayer before people start shouting).
I gotta wait till at least august i think for Deus Ex......boo hoo

Definitely. I'm not an FPS fan either, but it's not really a shooter. It's extremely fun.

Is Deus Ex like Fallout?
Personally I thought Deus Ex sucked. I brought the game back midway thru the tutorial. Why? Damn game started loading every time I moved the mouse or anything, freezing play. Textures look like they''d been recycled out of Wolfenstein. Faces look like the mugshots from the same game. Damn potted plant entity pissed me off royally after I saw it for the 30th time in the same room. Music was ok. Movement sucked and was choppy. And for the looks of it, all it was was a sorry clone of System Shock. (Yes it was the same team as System Shock 2, but as I remember correctly they screwed that game up massively and just rehashed the first one.)
I don''t know what you people find good about that game...I for one think it was a step back, a major step back.
And yes Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Soldier of Fortune, Diablo 2, and about a bazillion other new CPU hogging games run just fine on my computer.

ya i played the demo and the only gripe i have aboout the game is how u control the player. its hard and a little confusing using the mouse and the keyboard to move the player they should have made it one or the other
