Original Post
Hello All,
I was looking though one of my wife's catalogs and found the Civilization board game. It look very well done and based off the actual game of Civilization.
How cool !

here it the link to the acutal page.
Civ The Board Game
This is the first computer game I heard of that gone to a board game.
Most of the time it the other way board games to computer games.
Any way I though I was cool to see.
edit:
Just looking at the picture of board and there's not a lot of water between the land so I guess it more of a land game then land and water.
I loved it in old civ to get a battleship early and then go around and wipe out all defenders in a costal city, then land a single unit and grab the city.

That''s too cool an Age of Mythology board game.
Is this like a new tread that some computer games are being made into board games.
I guess only certen types could make the move to a board game and pull it off.
I would buy the game just for the little figures myself.

Civ was a board game long before it ever became a computer game. Look here for the history of Civ.
I used to play the original board game quite a bit, it was lots of fun when you had enough players.

* Doom 3
* Half-Life 2
* Various hentai/dating games
Now try to convert any of those into a board game, while still keeping roughly the same gameplay...

That civilization board game became the Advance Civilization computer game.
And Advance Civilization computer game I think is not that great.
Both are not the same as Sid Meier''s Civilization.
Sid''s Civilization blows them away.
They share some of the same features but Sid''s Civilization was total a far better game and had more depth of play. He was inspired by the old Civilization board game but added some much to it that I would not say it was base on the old civilization board game.

The base of the both of the games are the same, Sid just expanded on the original. The fact that he chose the same name always makes me think that it was based on that original game, at least in a (limited) fashion. I suppose it depends what you mean by based on
The Civ and AoM board games are made by Eagle Games. I have their game Attack!, and it's a lot of fun. I've thought about getting Civilization, but no one around here wants to play such a behemoth.
