Ok, I admit it, I''m bored
So I''ve been thinking (it hurt, too). What if, a big pile of pizzas fell out of the sky, who''d pick one up and eat it?
Just curious (I''m not psycho-analysing you, honest)

oki, I''ll elaborate in the situation a bit more...
You''re walking down the street, when it starts raining. But instead if raining water, it''s raining peperomi pizzas. Now, if you were to eat one, how would you get it?
WOuld you
- a) try and catch one
- b) pick one off the ground
- c) Try and eat them as they fell
- d) WOnder why the hell pizzas were falling from the sky (FYI: A Dominos pizza deliver plane exploded, causing the wierd event)

And if you're wondering why Dominos are now delivering pizza by plane, it's because PIzza was discovered to contain a wierd ingredient that prolonged human life, so demand for them buy the rich and famous ppl who live on small islands increased.
Instead of opening stores to serve the small 4 people communities, they had airports installed and bought a fleet of supersonic aircraft to deliver them (the 30 minute rule still applies)

AHA!
But you forget one major fact... supersonic aircraft travel at altitudes of 30,000+ feet. Any pizza falling from that altitude will freeze... I hope you have a microwave handy... (assuming they don''t explode on impact with the ground)

Okay... let''s throw some maths in...
The pizza will be accellerating downwards at 9.8 m/s
30,000 feet = approx 10,000 m
Anyone know the terminal velocity of a 12" deep pan pizza?

Uhhh 47! The answer to everything is 47!

well, pizza has a large surface area, so it will cause lots o friction with air
but this is the same as that penny dropping question, the pizza will not fly on it''s large surface, it will simple turn and fall on it''s thin side (side view of a pizza)
and since pizza has a round shape, the air resistance is going to significantly decrease, however some deformation will happen in here:
just like a rain drop, the pizza is going to depelope a "tail" for itself, so when you catch the pizza:
1- it''s heated up so much due to the high terminal velocity that it''s going to have wit hfalling on it''s side
2- probably stopping it will cause all of the hot chees to be all over your hands and face (newton''s 1st law)
3- the pizza is kinda deformed and all of the topping are moved to the "tail" of the pizza (we''re assuming that the cheese''s stretch factor is high enough to have kept everything ON the pizza while it was falling)
are you still gonna eat that pizza? (if you haven''t burned your hand from the hot cheese yet)

that''s really, really scary...
What you''re thinking of is Hitchhikers guide, right? Well, that''s 42... but....
A while back I created a very acurate lottery prediction program... every time, it came up with 47... 47 is the most common ball on the UK national lottery...
Also, if you ask ppl to pic any number between 1 and 100, the most common answer is 47.... I *hate* that number...

So, the best option would be to wait for the pizza to hit the ground and let it cool down a bit.
Of course, when the pizza hits the ground, it will splatter everywhere, so you''ll need a landing matt that will absorb the impact.
Maybe if we designed a pizza catching device in case this event ever happened, there''d be lotsa money in it for us...

first you have to find that "wierd ingredient that prolonged human life"
but then:
when the pizza falls in our pizza cathcing device and cools down, it''s all messed up... chesse being all over the bread (includeing back surface) one side of the bread is prolly crusted (the side that it was falling from heats up a lot) and all of the topping are concentrated on the other side of it.
