how exactly do opengl texture parameters work. do they stick with the texture when you bind them or is there is setting for all textures that you change

Each texture can have its own parameters. Use glTexParameteri() to define them. And they do stick with the texture when you bind them. I would be willing to bet you could even change the parameters somewhere else in your code after initially setting the parameters. I have never tried this, however. Just make sure you bind a texture before setting parameters, or the program will use the currently bound texture and change those parameters instead (unless of course the currently bound texture is the one you want to modify).

you can indeed change texture parameters after the initial setting, and yes you must bind them before changing (binding a texture is basically telling open gl, hey, we''re working with THIS texture now)
