I am on a fixed income but am willing to try to pay a bit to get this done. I want the program for myself and some friends.
Do i just need to go straight to rent-a-coder for this? Was this the wrong place to post? I dont have much info on this game yet as it just popped into our heads about having it done. I do have a forum on yahoo where I am putting ideas. This isnt one of those big mmorpg or mmolg type games soi guess i shouldnt have posted. Never mind, i will just go to rentacoder and propose this there. You can delete this thread. Many thanks,
RF

this is the right place to ask, but nobody will be interested with so little information, i.e. if you are willing to pay for the services, or what the game is about (and whether you have written up a detailed design document), or if you want those people to also help you design the game, etc. "a spaceship/resource game with nice graphics" hardly gives the impression that you have any details worked out, or a clue about how to make a game.
post with more information, or a link to a website describing the game, etc... you might get a better response.

Good thing i checked back here. I thought this thread was history. With the very little that i can afford to pay for someone to code, you really cant call it pay. ($30.00-40.00 a month) Maybe you can eat out on it 2 times a month. sigh.
After reading some of the other threads around this place, it seems many people are jaded by the barrage of ideas for new games.
My post is a bit different in that its not for the next big game out there. Just for a game for myself and a few friends. I dont have a desire to make the next big game. Just a cool thing for myself.
If i knew c++ i would of course do it myself. However it takes at least a year to even begin to understand such a language from what i hear and i have a learning disablity too so learning it is nearly out of the question.
What can i say about my game? Its like a game that i once played back in the late 1980''s - early 1990''s. 2d, windows os. I have searched long and wide for it on the net and havent been able to find it. It went by some name like maybe Trek25. It was a modem to modem game. I want to expand it and add in computer players and more folks. This isnt something for sale to the public, just for me and my friends. You orbit resource planets and shoot the other guy down. I want to add in more special effects. First one to conquer the combined universe wins. Pretty simple gameplay but will require a good c++ programmer.
We dont have a website cause this isnt for the public. I guess if the programmer wants to do updates and so forth, it could evolve into a internet game but thats not what i am after. I am just after a game for me and my freinds.
I want to learn from the source code if possiable to write my own games one day if the programmer is willing to give source too. Thats provided i can learn C++ which right now is so far beyond me. Oh well, if anyone wants to help and needs a bit of spare change, email me. Thanks,
Riflefire/David (riflefire@aol.com)

At least a year? Who the *blink* has been saying that? Couple of months of dedicated work should be enough. Of course, if you do have a learning disorder I can''t argue with that, though I don''t know what sort of learning disorder you have. You certainly seem to be more gramatically arcurate than a lot of programmers.
