My thoughts on it so far (from my vast 20 minutes of using it):
- The file and option menus are annoyingly slow. I clicked on 'project' to add a source file to my massive hello world program, and it took no less than 3 seconds for the menu to pop up. And it wasnt just the first time either. Its every time, and for every menu. Does anyone else experience this?
- It took about 15 seconds to compile my hello world program. I shudder to think how long it will take for a 'real' program.
Im used to using VS6.0, and I didnt have any problems with menus, and a hello world program compiles in well under a second. Ill continue to use VS.NET though, because everyone assures me that its better, and also because I paid a shite load of moola for it.
EDIT:
Actually, can someone help me with the transition from 6 to .net?
Here's what I used to do in 6 to make a console application:
File->new->Project->win32 console application->empty project
And heres what I did in VS.net:
File->new->project->win32 project->console application->empty project.
Are these two things equivalent? I want to be doing the same type of thing as i was in vs6. However, when I do this in .NET, my little hello world program is about 500kb, and it wasnt that big in vs6.
What am I doing wrong?
