What''s thanksgiving? Is it just like Christmas? And why do you celebrate it?

It''s a day where you eat a lot of food, generally turky. It''s a celebration of the people in the Plymouth colony surviving, although it''s also often linked to religious reasons. I''d think someone from England would know this already, so I probably just missed some inside joke, but oh well.

By the way, Canada celebrates it on a different date, because they really wouldn''t clebrate Americans surviving...

lol, why would you expect someone from England to know about an American holiday?

I don''t think the tradition of turkey for Christmas is followed as closely here in the USA. I dunno though: I wasn''t born here, my family is vegitarian, and we''re not Christian.

I had a rough idea of what it was I just wasn''t sure. And that wasn''t an inside joke before.

I don''t know, I would have thought that something like Thanksgiving would be internationally known. I guess I''m just too used to living in the United States, lol.

Is "turky" how you describe someone similar to a Turk?

Because the fact that the pilgrims survived (coincidentally, plymouth was still an English colony at the time) and later seperated from England is a part of English history too...
