Yay! I got a new computer: 2.8ghz 800mhz FSB pIV 512 ddr RAM Geforce FX 5200 19" Viewsonic And Now: My question. WHAT GAME SHOULD I GET? I was thinking battlefield... then I thought Halo... Now I don''t know which one! Pick a game. I really like FPS''s!

get battlefiled 1942 and then IMMEDIATELY download Desert Combat. It is the most amazing online gaming experience I have had to date.

Mine''s better.

Well, CPU''s the same (AMD XP 2800+) as well as the RAM, but then I have a better gfx card, etc...

Why a geforce fx 5200? - Is what I''m wondering.

Actually, that would make your CPU worse.

EDIT: As for why he chose the odd combination of parts that he did, I'd be willing to bet that it's a prefabricated dealy.

cowsarenotevil - no, the 2800+ in the name MEANS that the AMD XP 2800+ runs as good (or better than, thus the +) as a p4 running at 2.8 ghz.

AMD's CPUs and Intel's CPUs are clocked differently.

// EDIT - My CPU (which windows rates at 2.03 ghz) does more in one cycle than a 2.03 ghz p4, thus making it equivalent to a 2.8 ghz p4.

Perhaps so, but his front side bus is over twice as fast as yours (and so the RAM and everything will be faster)

EDIT: If that's true what you said though, very cool, as I have an Athlon also :D

Actually, the number has very little - nothing to do with the speed. It is a model number of sorts, the + is like the pro in videocards, just means a newer/better 2800

Yep. It is prefabricated, but it was actually cheaper than building my own. I only payed 900$ (CAD) for it. Plus it comes with the Audigy 2 Sound Blaster. On a Asus motherboard!

I trust drevay over you, but I will tell you that you''re definition of the "+" is inherently wrong because you can''t buy an athlon 2800 without the plus. I think all of the Barton processors have the plus, if I recall.

I'm not just saying this because I SUSPECT it's the same speed, I know from actually hearing, seeing, and reading so.

What company? Also, to judge the price accurately, you''d need to know what motherboard, power supply, and other stuff.

maxd gaming - seriously, AMD''s CPUs (or atleast the XP CPUs) do MORE IN ONE CYCLE than a p4 rated at the same speed, thus they actually are as fast as a p4 chip that''s rated faster than they are.

Don''t trust me? Email AMD and ask them.

I changed the cow to go with the christmas theme, obviously. I''ll be changing it back shortly.
