I want to get some guides, examples or books on the style used for creating concept art for characters and level designs you see in the "Making of..." section of games but I don''t know what to look for. I presume theres a certain name given to this style and it isnt just used in level designs and so on, but I don''t know that either. Can anyone help me here. By the styles I mean: http://halo.bungie.org/conceptart/artpages/carriers.html http://halo.bungie.org/conceptart/artpages/humanboat.html are the 2 main styles.

Umm, you mean sketching?
You are not the one beautiful and unique snowflake who, unlike the rest of us, doesn't have to go through the tedious and difficult process of science in order to establish the truth. You're as foolable as anyone else. And since you have taken no precautions to avoid fooling yourself, the self-evident fact that countless millions of humans before you have also fooled themselves leads me to the parsimonious belief that you have too.--Daniel Rutter

Not quite, i''m a natural artist and have produced fully professional images, but mine lack the style of concept art, I can''t explain it but mine don''t have the striking outlines and theres something missing. I presume theres either techniques used or certain equiptment and I want to find out what.
