Could some one help me -- I''m looking for some Lisp library documentation to run on a windows machine. I''ve tried google and not I''m a little worried of the many dialects. Right now I''m trying to get documentation for the Ansi Common Lisp specification. I ordered Common Lisp, by Steele, 2nd edition, but I''m trying to get on-line documentation, and also want to make sure my library is complete, I''m too new to it to know. I was also hoping to get maybe a pointer to say a Lisp forum or web rind, or something of that nature... if anybody has the time to throw me a bone here I would appreciate it. Some other questions though: About compiling lisp, there are two different types of compilations I have read that came with the ANSI Common Lisp exe I downloaded. One that generates a .fas and one that generates C code. I''m confused as to if I have the software to run the .fas files. I believe I do, and its part of the lisp.exe app. But the if I can generate C code then it stands to reason I should only need to compile the C code with a C compiler -- is this all that would be required? Your first question: The Hyperspec

In terms of your other questions, what program are you using? I'd highly recommend Corman Lisp, with it's easy set up, worksheet, instructions and great community. Cheers.

You do mean Common Lisp right? As far as community -- I was wonder what you ment by that? I''ve been looking around for a forum that is something like Gamedev with close to the same amount of user, but in this case for Lisp. Do you know of one?

Also, you said easy to set up. I did get the executable to run, the one I downloaded from sourceforge. It was simple its just an executable, but the literature seems a little fuzzy. As if it was taken from another version of CLisp, because it talks of the interpreter, but i sort of have to assume that its referring to the .exe -- which it does seem to have interpreter functionality. I guess I''m just harping on nomenclature. I can let that go, but for future questions: is there some sort of Lisp Forum out there?

Thanks again,
L-

This is more of a for beginners than an artificial intelligence thread, but anyway...

Actually, I meant Corman Common Lisp, for which there is a pretty active Yahoo Group and just recently some forums. Don''t expect too much activity there (the forums) yet but Roger Corman himself as well as a few others respond very quickly to the questions. I haven''t worked much with CLisp so I''m not in a position to answer the specific questions about it though if you''re only beginning I feel CCL is just as viable an alternative to look into.

Oh, and don''t expect too much enthusiasm about lisp on these forums, though there are a number of very active groups on Yahoo that I would recommend looking into.

Cheers and luck.
