Hi, I''m having trouble with where to place my animation controller. I''m using Softimage|XSI as a main modeling package and the implemented scene graph follows pretty much the XSI way. Now, I''m having a small problem with where to place my animation controllers. The actual question is: Is it enough to specify nodes as deformers for envelopes, thus implementing each animation controller to control the transformations of the nodes? How many of you actually use XSI, or are familiar with it? Timo Heubach Graphics Programmer Founder of Radiant Raccoon

Hi,

I have used XSI for loading models, but never for animation, so I am a bit familiar with the file format. But if the question is specifically with the usage of SoftImage, then I am not familiar with it at all.
The more applications I write, more I find out how less I know

Hi,

I mainly use the dotXSI format for my initial models (which I''ll be converting into an engine native format later on). But I got the problem pretty much solved (hopefully). The bad thing is I haven''t had much time to experiment on it and I''m lacking a modeler, atm. Hopefully I''ll find an XSI competent chap willing to help me out

i used xsi a lot in school, and used the dotXSI format in my games (actually, only demos). i''m familiar with the XSI format, altho have not written loaders for versions past 3.0.

by ''animation controllers'' do u mean the skeleton rig? i haven''t followed the latest animation lingo, so i''m not sure what u mean.
