Half-Life 2 and Doom III were both cancelled because they realized that they both suck horribly as games. But then Half-Life 2 was released because it was just tricking Doom III into thinking that it sucks. Now we have a really good game and we don''t have to waste money on that tech demo they tried to pass off as the third installment of the Doom series.
