Hi, I need recommendations on a (preferably free) visual IDE for 32-bit assembler. I want to be able to assemble to both Windows and Linux platforms. If what I''m saying is blasphemy, then plz correct me.

Notepad is the only way to go.

joelmartinez, thanks for that link. However, it''s ONLY an IDE. I''m going to use it definitely. But if I wanna ASSEMBLE my MASM for instance syntax, I have to dl and install the MASM32 assembler, which is free. So can anyone give me any more help on going cross platform or am I asking the wrong question. Do I essentially link with the libraries I wanna use and that''s it?

If you want to go cross platform use NASM.

This is an on-topic question so I didn''t make a new thread.
Can you compile linux applications with VC++? If you''re using the X windows system for windows and all.

Not with the C++ compiler it comes with. You''ll have to recompile it with gcc on linux (or on Windows targeted to linux)
