Well, after getting a mixed response about weather or not I should get a GBA SP (I''m currently using a GBA (normal) and a light pack type thing, as well as angling the GBA to get nice light), I thought I''d ask what''s up with games? I have FFTA (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance), and I liked the original Golden Sun until I..er.. well, I got stuck. What games would you recommend? I''ve been hearing things such as Fire Emblem, Sword of Mana, Advance Wars, uh, Mario titles... what do you guys think? - CD

Cool. That''s the full name of the game? ''Mario and Luigi''? I think I have Metroid Fusion stashed away somewhere, though, actually...

Fusion is great ... but short. IMHO.

There''s also a million old NES/SNES ports, if you want to relive Yoshi''s Island or something. Plus the Castlevania games (like Aria of Sorrow). You can get used GBA games for a song, too

All 3 Castlevania games for GBA are good (Circle of the Moon has palette problems [colors are very dark] but has great gameplay and sound. Harmony of Dissonance has improved graphics, but the sound is very subpar for a castlevania game, and I personally find it less appealing than the other 2. Aria of Sorrow has the graphics of HoD with the graphics of CotM. So far the gameplay is very nice).

Prince Of Persia: Sands of Time is nice, though it does get a bit repetitive (the puzzles and challenges are just rehashs of the old ones). Still it is a fun game.

As mentioned, Mario and Luigi is good (if you liked Super Mario RPG for the NES you''ll like this one). You can also get the port of Super Mario 3 from the NES (depending on if you liked that game). Its sold as "Super Mario Advance 4".

Advance Wars is a fantastic game and perfect for the GBA (Advance Wars 2 is almost the same game [though I haven''t played it enough to be sure], just with new missions, new unit, new gameplay options, and an expanded commander role)

Metriod Fusion is also nice, though as mentioned it is really short (I was surprised to find that I was already on the second last boss of the game when reading a FAQ). Unfortunately Fusion doesn''t have the same level of replayability of previous Metroid games (if you can consider them to have replay value). On this note I would recommend CastleVania Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow and Advance Wars [2] for replay value (with the exception of Advance Wars, which will take a bit longer, all these games can generally be beaten for the first time over a weekend if you put the effort in).

Hehe, damn, Dcower beat me to that post!

I''m gonna go look for Metroid Fusion soon, as I think I have it in the other room

So ... GBA SP is the decided winner, and I''m gonna get that soonish. GBA normal will have to suffice til then. Hehe.

Anyway. Wario Ware? Is that any good? (Multiple opinions are good )

I think other people have mentioned almost every GBA game in my collection. The Zelda oracle games are really good but the GBC games so they look a little dated now.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit is also a great game, like the SNES one, not crap like the N64 one.

The Megaman battle network games are OK. Avoid the obvious crappers, like disney and nickelodeon titles. There seem to be a whole bucket load of 3d racing games. Too bad most of the good games are translations of SNES games... F-Zero, Mario Kart, and so on.

Yeah, I can usually tell what to avoid, but what to buy is more important.

You got stuck in Golden Sun? It won''t kill you to use a walkthrough for a minute or two, it''s a good enough game that it''s worth finishing. I got Golden Sun 2 for Christmas, it''s better in pretty much every single way (just finishing it now).

Castlevania''s are good, you really do need very good light to actually see Circle Of The Moon (but that shouldn''t be a problem with a GBA SP).

Advanced Wars is just brilliant. The sequel is supposedly more of the same, so I''m assuming it''s brilliant too.

Yeah but I don''t like using walk-throughs on RPGs... it feels a bit cheap

NFS: UnderGround is ... ok, that''s the most recent game I bought.

I said this in the other thread but:

Castlevania
FF Tactics
Tactics Ogre
Advance Wars 2 (might as well get the extra stuff if you don't have the first already)
Mario Bros 3 (remake)
Metroid Fusion

My advice: go to the store, see what you would consider buying, go to GameFaqs and check out the user reviews. Readers can be brtually honest, so check some of the ratings <7 and see why reviewers rated them so low.

EDIT: Wario Ware did do quite well, according to the GameFaqs user reviews. Skimming the reviews said that the main complaint was the length (supposedly can be beaten in 2 hours)

Final Fantasy Tactics entertained me for about 30 straight hours, then I hit the final mission, got beat, and started playing Xenosaga, and forgot to beat the final mission... Doh!

Advanced Wars 2 is cool, and Golden Sun is totally badass, I got halfway through, and ditched it, but I''m looking to play through it again.
