i was wondering whether there was a website or a book that was composed of a bunch of common algorithims used in game programming, you know stuff like A*, sorting algorithims, etc. see my problem is that ive learned all the programming i know very unconventionally, and thus it is full of holes. Pretty much i have an engine (3rd party) and i program things by using statements, functions, structures, classes, etc. to get the job done, with no real regard to optimization (i know none) and such. Id like to though, i just dont know what the basic tools are that most programmers use for things like doing 3d pathfinding, etc etc etc. please help me with some books or websites that act as well written references, things that describe why to use a certain algorithim and how it works and such. Mostly I just search the net. I also have a book. Good ones are ~$80 though.

i would like to be able to just search for them, but the problem is that i dont know what to use or when, so i cant search for something i dont know. Those sites you sent me look cool, but i guess what i really want is a sort of coffee table reference where i can just sit down when im bored and flip through and find something like ''babcock-gernsey data sort'' and go, hmm looks interesting read about it and remember it next time i encounter a situation that it seems applicable for.
