Over the last 2 weeks I''ve been progressing through the NeHe tutorials. However, I''ve noticed that as the tutorials became more complicated my framerates were much lower than those in the binaries included at the end of each tutorial.
I''m using Borland''s Commandline Compiler with PentiumPro Instructions on and the O2 optimization flag set.
I''m currently on tutorial 7 and getting framerates of 2-3, while getting 102-120 on the NeHe Binary.
I''m using a Texture Loader by Chris Leathley based on Jeff Molofee''s IPicture Basecode. (I tried using the glaux loader, but BCC''s glaux library was errored and my recompiled port was too hacked.)
I would like to profile the code to determine the slowdown, but time.h''s clock(), window''s getSystemTime() and timeGetTime(), dont change inside the same iteration of the mainloop.
ex:
while(!done){
long firsttime=clock();
//do stuff here;
long lasttime=clock();
glPrint("delay %7.3d", lasttime-firsttime);
//lasttime==firsttime, and i have no idea why.
}
If anyone has expirenced similar situations, or has any advice for speedup, I''d be much obliged.
Thanks in Advance, aaron_ds
