How can I edit the alpha channel with the Gimp? The only way I can now is by starting with it transparent and drawing only parts of the image.
You can use the layer/channels dialog (can''t remember for sure how to get to it...it''s somewhere on the right-click menu) and manually create an alpha channel. Then, you can use this dialog to select the currently visible channels.

I can get to Layers, Channels, and Paths and create an alpha channel, but how can I edit just one channel? I don''t know how to edit one channel instead of all of them together. I can edit just one layer, but not a channel.
