Hmm, I used to encounter that problem only back on Win95 or 98 when resources fell way too low.

If you do a lot of programming in windows and dont release device contexts properly, the resources will diminish and you will get a state that Salsa and I have seen.

It wouldn''t explain why you had no fonts off a fresh restart, though.
