im gonna set up a small wlan at home, between my laptop and my stationary question is: do i need an accesspoint/router or can i connect the two cards directly to eachother? the card im gonna buy says: "can connect via router, accespoint or point-2-point" so i figured this point to point thing would mean that it can connect card2card [edited by - branhield on January 17, 2004 6:12:09 AM]

if your cards support Ad-Hoc you can connect them directly

how do i know if my card supports ad-hoc...

right..nvm..

it says my card does support ad-hoc

now, are there any drawbacks for connecting p2p isntead of going via accesspoint?
