I am rather new with OpenGL programming. I tried to compile a piece of code with VC++ 6,but I got an error as below: " --------------------Configuration: lesson1 - Win32 Debug-------------------- Compiling... Error spawning cl.exe Lesson1.obj - 1 error(s), 0 warning(s) " And I also follow instruction-------"After you have created a new Win32 Application (NOT a console application) in Visual C++, you will need to link the OpenGL libraries. In Visual C++ go to Project, Settings, and then click on the LINK tab. Under "Object/Library Modules" at the beginning of the line (before kernel32.lib) add OpenGL32.lib GLu32.lib and GLaux.lib. Once you''ve done this click on OK. You''re now ready to write an OpenGL Windows program. " but there is still an error. I really don''t know what''s going on? so I really need your help. Thanks a million.

I don''t recognize your error, but if there is already an instance of your program running, it could cause the compiler to generate an error when it tries to start another one.

And you have no problems compiling another project?

It shows every time when I compile a project.

I think it might be something wrong with my compiler.
Am I right?

Hmm, I wonder why the build target is an obj file...

Go to NeHe, download a simple project and build it. If it works, systematically compare everything in that project to this one. If it gives the same nonsense, reinstall msvc.

Isnt that an error you get when the program chrashed and is still active in the background ?

coz the compiler makes .obj files and the linker makes the exe...

Yeah but the cl.exe is the compiler, so it won''t be able to work on a .obj file. As for your problem MoonWell, I''d try recreating the project seeing as it''s trying to compile a .obj for some reason. If that doesn''t work reinstall MSVC

Thanks!

And I finally sovled it.

I guess that there might be something wrong with my OS,cause I reinstalled the MSVC again and again but in vain.

And after I reinstalled the WindowsXP, I installed the MSVC again.
And it works.

Thanks to all of you.
