I have been having a fair amount of trouble recently getting Direct Show to work for me. After a bit of effort and use of the Direct show newsgroup on MSDN someone suggestion that needed an updated platform SDK which I have now ordered ($15). Has anybody had a problem to do with having an old Platform SDK in the past? I fully expect that this is the problem, I just think that it is strange that I have never heard about this ever before? Thanks for any response. Mark Coleman

This sounds pretty strange to me, because I don''t know how the DX sdk would depend on your API sdk, unless your problem existed in the Windows code somewhere.

I did run into this a while back. The SDK depends on some changes that were made to the Platform SDK since VC++6 was released. I can''t recall any specifics though.

The Platform SDK is a free download, and if you only take the core (not every single add-on) it''s not too huge.

While that may be your problem, (and this is a stupid question), but your hardware supports whats youre trying to use, right?

Well, the part of the code that is failing is simply calling a constructor on an object that is supplied in one of the libraries. So I dont think that it relies on the hardware much.

To be exact it is the call to the constructor of CBaseVideoRenderer in the Texture3D9 sample in the directx 9.0 sdk. Has anybody else had any problems with this??

- Do you have VC6 with service pack 5?
- Are you sure your D3D include directory comes before the platform SDKs include directory?

I''ve seen problems happen because of an incorrect order, before.
