Ok, this is NOT the right place to go for this type of answer, but there''s some kindred game-geeks here who I''m hoping might have an answer for me. My problem is a hardware one. I just bought a new computer, and it KEEPS BEEPING AT ME! It beeps about every 7 to 15 minutes. The beep comes from the motherboard (I think), NOT from the speakers. It''s a low beep followed immediately by a high beep with no pause between. Perhaps each 3/4 of a second. Now, for the details, if it helps: My computer is: Intel D875PBZ motherboard P4 3.0 Ghz 1G Ram ATI 9800 XT video Twin 74GB Western Digital Raptors Audigy II ZS sound card Logitech Z680 speakers Crappy monitor (my good one''s on back order) WinXP Pro I''ve checked the temperatures both in BIOS and in Intel Active Monitor (in Windows). They''re all well in spec. I checked the voltages, and the 12Vin runs at 11.82, and everything else is even closer. The beeps never happen if I enter BIOS and stay there. The beeps began when Windows was the only thing installed (so it''s not software). I can''t find anything ANYWHERE on the web about this. Help? hScott

The beep is coming from the internal speaker in the case.

Just some suggestions:
Look through you motherboard manual/website.
Try unplugging the keyboard and booting up (could be a stuck key)

i hate to say it but it sounds like heat problems... if your in the BIOS then you aint processing anything really so it wont overheat....but when you enter windows everything kicks in...

if it starts beeping after 13 mins then that is an acceptable time for overheating to take place...

ive got a problem with my mainboard atm.... the fan broke which cooled down the mainboard (not the CPU) and im using... HARDWARE DOCTOR... and every time i go to play a game like BF1942 after 5 mins my system starts screaming at me....

Your Intel thingy may have a glitch or may be lying as it sound the same as 99% of people who have heat related problems with their PC....

ive worked as head of technical engineering for 2 companies for roughly 4 years total... so im not just spouting crap at you...LOL

but if you are positive that it aint heat problems then check your fan speeds... i know its still heat related...but most mainboards these days will start screaming at you if the fan stops or goes too slow etc... there are afew thigns that can bugger it up...but im sure somehting is going too high/hot/fast/slow lol and your comp is warning you to turn off your comp before it blows up...

Sorry if its no help to you but thats my opinion...

Thanks folks!

Yeah, I''m with you on this...that seems most consistant. I''ve been monitoring my fan speeds too, and they''re pretty consistant. It is interesting to me that there are three fans: front, rear and CPU. The BIOS has room to monitor all three, but shows 0-RPM for the front one. I''m guessing a fan sensor may be out?

I disabled Fan Control in the bios (to presumably let the fans run full out), but to no avail, except that the CPU runs at around 45 dgrees (C) rather than 50. Still beeping.

I also did a bit more thorough timing on the beeps, and they''re at precicely 7.5 minutes apart (give or take 5 seconds, which is well within my margin of error).

I''m going to gut the thing and make sure (again) everything seems happy...I paid a premium for a new work machine, and I''m getting a bit frustrated that I''m having to troubleshoot from day one!

I posted to another board (The Zone) and didn''t learn too much.

there''s also the chance that your motherboard is faulty, i just had to RMA my 1 month old ABIT VI7 motherboard for multiple problems. i dont know about yours but ABIT gives a 2 years from time of manufacturers warrenty (in my case it was manufactured november 2003, so im well within warrenty) where i can send it in and they repair or replace it for free, also if you paid the extra 10 buck or so from most distributers you should have a 1 year or more distributers warrenty.

It could be a problem with an external input/output device such as the keyboard. If you''ve ever spilt anything on the keyboard, the computer may be registering to many keys pressed down. Just a possibibility

Always check the simple stuff:

Are you sure it''s your computer and not your UPS?
Or a bad Power Supply?

My computer was beeping at me right before my hard drive died. You could always try another drive and see if that''s it.

Thanks guys...great help. Unfortunately, the problem is not yet resolved, but I''m still working on it. I''ve written Intel and await their sage advice.

The computer is brand new (like 5 days), and it shipped with this problem, so doubtfully stuff in the keyboard, etc. If Intel doesn''t get back to me today, I''ll spend some time this evening taking stuff out (Audigy, perhaps one drive, etc.) to try to isolate it.

I''ve read every BIOS article in the universe, searched with several engines for likely keywords, and still nothing. Hey, I''m a programmer, and a darn good one (I think), I''m used to FINDING SOLUTIONS! This one''s a bummer

Again, thanks! I''ll post the solution if I ever find it.
